Review by Nathan Dufour
Oh man, this is just plain ridiculous. I don't even know if I can properly express the totally brutal nature of the sounds contained within the piece of plastic you, very soon, will hold in your hands. Austrian Death Machine is really Tim Lambesis from As I Lay Dying having fun with metal and Arnold. You know, the Governator. All the lyrics are lines from Ahhnold movies. All the songs have guitar solos. Ahhnold speaks to us. Does it get any better? Oh and they even poke fun at AILD, so I guess it does. Stellar.
Sporting a production as big as Ahhnold circa "Pumping Iron" and just as tough, Total Brutal is nothing if not a showcase of the talent contained in Tim Lambesis. Songs such as "Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers" and "Who Is Your Daddy (And What Does He Do)" will rip your speakers apart. They are the T-1000 to regular Terminator of your speaker cones. Musically, as stated above, every song has a guitar solo and do you really need anything more than that? No. I didn't think so.
Honestly I can't believe that Tim can scream these lyrics with a straight face. Total Brutal is a beginning to end fun ride. It's very metal, yes. It's very brutal. It will make you laugh until your face hurts and your pancreas is about to explode from doubling over so much. Go get it. And remember, all the songs sound the same because they all sound brutal. Ahhnold has spoken. In track four, just before track five, "I Am A Cybernetic Organism, Living Tissue Over (Metal) Endoskeleton." It's all just too much.
